Helen Hedley studied at Birmingham Medical School 1995-2000 and after a year as a pre-registration house officer, joined the Birmingham Heart of England Basic Surgical Training scheme. Following that she obtained a place on the Warwick Trauma and Orthopaedic Specialist Training Scheme. She completed the British Hand Society Hand Diploma during her sub-specialty Fellowship year in Oxford in 2011-2012. Since starting as a Hand Consultant at University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire in 2012 she has endeavoured to develop the hand department in order to ensure patients with hand injuries are seen and treated promptly. Helen has worked to expand the range of super-subspecialist elective hand treatments and surgeries available to patients. She has been a member of the BSSH Diploma Committee for four years and is due to be Diploma Director from 2020-2023. She has a keen interest in promoting hand surgery and teaching and educating the next generation of hand surgeons.
