I have gained clinical and managerial experience during a Senior I post and then an ESP post in the NHS upper limb unit since 2003. My skills include assessment and treatment of complex upper limb patients both acute, surgical / non surgical, rheumatology and chronic conditions. I am also competent in wound care and advanced splinting. I enjoy working in the hand team both in trauma and elective clinics.
My ESP role has enabled me to develop skills including, referral and interpretation of Xray, nerve conduction studies and MRI scans along with injection therapy and removal of K wires, seeking consultant advice as appropriate. I have continued to have an active role in developing and updating protocols / training packages in line with evidence based practice, teaching / problem solving, audit and lecturing.
